Setting
The road construction site, located in Germany, involved excavation, consolidation, and material handling activities within a tunnel with progressive linear development. The operations took place in multiple shifts, with poor natural lighting and the presence of dust and humidity. The operational areas, extending up to 300 linear meters, required uniform and controlled lighting to ensure constant visibility in the work and transit zones.
Need
It was necessary to design a system of lighting towers capable of ensuring lighting levels compliant with standards for infrastructure roadworks, with uniform distribution of luminous flux and reduction of shadow areas. It was essential to create a system that could quickly adapt to the advancement of the excavation front and manage the lighting towers with limited power supply points.
Solution
A total of 6 Towerloop 4x160W LED plug-in lighting towers have been installed in a serial connection, powered by a single power source. This configuration allowed for a linear distribution of light along the tunnel path, optimizing the layout of the system. The high-efficiency LED lights ensured adequate lighting levels for the construction site, with coverage of up to 4,000 sqm per unit and a controlled distribution of the light beam.
The adoption of the Towerloop lighting towers from Italtower allowed for consistent lighting levels throughout the road construction site, even in the absence of natural light. The serial connection simplified power supply and installation times, while the uniform distribution of light contributed to safer and more precise operating conditions throughout the tunnel.
